According to Berger (1972, pp9-10) an image is an appearance which have become detached from the place and time in which it first made its appearance and preserved. Furthermore, images are not static appearances with their own inner sense, they make us see, feel, think, act and believe. For this reason I believe that images are very effective in the classroom. The images become visual literacy, as the students are engaged in a complex act of decoding and interpreting the image.
Gorgeous picture, and a great explanation Surene enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteWow Surene, this is a really powerful image you have used. This is a great example of how powerful they can be when used in the classroom.
ReplyDeletehow can students be engaged in this complex act if they've never had any experience in "reading" an image
